#BBNAIJA BARRY: One Man Diversified Like the Economy Was Supposed to Be
Barry entered Big Brother with singing, sewing, cooking, athletics, and enough sectors to make the Ministry of Finance nervous. If Nigeria had diversified this aggressively, crude oil would be the one auditioning for relevance.

Barry, 25, fashion designer, submitted the most ambitious hobbies section in the history of reality television: singing, acting, gaming, sports, reading, sewing and cooking. Seven sectors. One man. This is not a housemate profile; this is Vision 2020. Barry has personally achieved the economic diversification that four successive federal administrations promised Nigeria and could not deliver. Crude oil could never. This man IS the non-oil sector.
He then supplemented this portfolio with hidden talents in "cooking and athletics", note that cooking appears in both his hobbies and his hidden talents, meaning Barry cooks so much it required double registration, like a businessman with two SIM cards for the same network. The Federal Inland Revenue Service should look into whether the second cooking is being declared.
But the crown jewel of Barry's manifesto is his self-description: ambitious, entertaining and "unforgettable." Unforgettable. A word deployed by a man Nigeria met last Sunday. Sir, the nation is still learning your government name, which, for the record, is Muudumbari Pop-Yornwin, a name that sounds like a coastal town, a law firm and a jazz album simultaneously, and which, we concede, is genuinely unforgettable. The name is carrying the claim. The man is still on probation.
There is, however, real strategy hiding in the comedy. In a house where survival depends on being useful, the man who can cook, sew, entertain, and compete athletically is essentially infrastructure. When wager tasks demand costumes, Barry sews. When the kitchen rotation collapses, Barry cooks. When the party needs energy, Barry performs. He has made himself too load-bearing to evict, the housemate equivalent of Third Mainland Bridge: everyone complains, nobody can do without him.
The risk is the classic Nigerian conglomerate problem: the man who does everything is rarely paid for anything specific. Dangote learned to focus on cement. Barry must learn to focus on camera time, or he will spend ten weeks as the house's unpaid service industry and exit in October with excellent reviews and no money, beloved, essential, and broke, like every talented Nigerian before him. We pray for him. All seven of him.
