Davido dropped a big one: "ORIADÉ: The Residency," three straight nights at the National Theatre in Iganmu, December 17 to 19, marking 15 years in music. His caption did the most Davido thing possible: "LAGOS!!!! nowhere I'd rather be. We bringing it HOME! 15 years of madness."

And listen, "15 years of madness" is doing a lot of quiet work in that sentence, because this particular year alone has had enough madness to fill its own residency, a public back-and-forth with Erigga, a leaked WhatsApp exchange with Wande Coal, calling a man "Paul Broke" in someone else's comment section, a whole state governor's WAEC result appearing on his Instagram, and a crypto token that some fans say cost them real money. That's not fifteen years of madness, that's roughly fifteen months.

Give credit where it's due, though: the National Theatre itself is the real underdog story here. That building spent years as the physical embodiment of "we'll fix it eventually," leaking roof and all, before its renovation. Now it's hosting a three-night residency for one of Afrobeats' biggest names, which is a redemption arc most Nigerian institutions can only dream of.
