Here's the part that makes this genuinely funny and not just routine: Nigeria's ambassador reportedly secured Tinubu an actual seat close to Donald Trump for this session. Reserved. Waiting. And the President still didn't show up. Atiku's team put it perfectly: "The seat was secured, but the President disappeared." That's not a political statement, that's just a description of a ghosted date.

Naturally, Atiku, who, let's be honest, has been asking Tinubu to explain himself since roughly 1999, jumped on this immediately. His people pointed out Nigeria allegedly spent $9 million on American lobbyists, which means the country paid real money to get a seat at the table that the man of the house then declined to sit at. That's not diplomacy, that's catering a party you don't attend.

And because nothing in Nigerian politics stays simple, Atiku also dragged up a 1993 US court case involving funds once linked to Tinubu's name, gently wondering out loud whether that old paperwork has anything to do with three years of "I'll send my guy instead."

Tinubu's camp hasn't addressed the seat, the case, or the $9 million yet. Meanwhile, somewhere in New York, an empty chair with Nigeria's name on it is becoming an annual tradition.
